An Australian-Pakistani girl who was killed in Chakwal sustained 11 bullet wounds

Chakwal: The post-mortem report of nine-year-old Hania Adeel, who was killed during a firing incident involving Crime Control Department (CCD) officials in Chakwal on June 10, revealed that the child suffered multiple bullet wounds.

The post-mortem report revealed that nine-year-old Hania Adeel sustained 11 bullet and injury marks, with gunshots causing severe damage to vital organs including her heart, lungs, liver, chest and abdomen. Doctors said all injuries were inflicted before death and were severe enough to cause immediate death.

Hania, an Australian-Pakistani girl, was killed when CCD personnel allegedly opened fire on her family’s vehicle in Chakwal after reportedly mistaking it for that of robbers. She died at the scene.

The report noted that six to eight hours passed between her death and the post-mortem examination. Authorities sealed her blood-stained clothes, X-rays and other evidence before handing them over to police.

Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb termed the incident tragic and attributed it to a misunderstanding during an anti-robbery operation. She said the inquiry report had been submitted to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, while the CCD chief is expected to brief the media on the findings.

The Lahore High Court has ordered that a petition seeking a judicial inquiry be heard alongside the main case. Earlier, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called for a transparent investigation, while the CCD official accused of opening fire remains in judicial custody.
